Great idea!
Haven’t done that but I see how it could work. Here’s one for you on that same idea, not sure if you have mentioned it. Doing the same thing buy getting their phone number when they go out of business.

This is very effective. I went through the local chamber of commerce and bbb directory and bought at least 50 expired domains and we get tons of traffic from it. We have also acquired the phone number of some of the larger companies that had been around 30+ years.
