When you hear people say “social media,” you think of a group of platforms that co-exist for each of us to share information.
The thing is, these platforms change and mature and, in some cases, fall out of fashion, and they all will die out one day.
- Facebook used to have 30% penetration
- Twitter used to be used by more than just journalists
- Google Adwords was a tool you could get cheap leads from
The point is, use each of the platforms until you’ve gotten everything from it you can, then move on. Don’t fall in love with any single tool because, at some point, they will all become the next MySpace, you just don’t want to be on them when they do.
