<\/a>If you have spent any time on this site at all, you know I am a firm believer in the “devil is in the details” approach to marketing and web design. In fact, Chris Spoerl calls me the King of the Tweaks.<\/p>\n

Maybe it’s because I am an uptight Virgo, or the fact that I get it from my follow up crazed Mother (love you Mom), but I look for\/at things that most people ignore. And today, I have a story for you that has nothing to do with marketing or website design, but about just being a good person, and God forbid, capitalizing on it.<\/p>\n

Goodwill in your local market<\/strong><\/p>\n

Everyone wants to know how to be on top of people’s minds when it comes time to fix their homes. Some want to be the biggest ad in the phonebook, some want their site to rank number one, while others want to work the referral side of the house until it bleeds leads.<\/p>\n

But today I saw something that won me over big time!<\/strong><\/p>\n

While picking up my daughter from my old house, I noticed a guy in the middle of the street dodging traffic with a small brush and dust pan. As I got closer, I noticed he was sweeping up a box of nails that must have fallen off of his truck.<\/p>\n

His truck was parked way off out of the way, but I could see his work shirt had his company name and logo on it. I wrote down the company number and yelled out the window:<\/p>\n

“Dude, that is a real mench thing to do, and I have work to be done on my house, and I WILL be calling you”.<\/strong><\/p><\/blockquote>\n

He said thank you, smiled and went back to sweeping up nails. Now, he may suck as a contractor, but if he is willing to go to those lengths to make sure perfect strangers don’t get screwed by getting nails in their tires, then he has to be at least trustworthy…and that is a huge obstacle to overcome in the space we operate in!<\/p>\n

So, pick up your nails, you never know when it might mean more business!<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
