It has to do with Starbucks<\/strong><\/p>\n

I am sitting in Starbucks working this morning because quiet frankly, the air works better here than in the office and it\u2019s 93 friggin’ degrees already at 9:30 in the morning. I am sure you are cursing me right now as you dig into a crawlspace or hang shingles on a roof, but I did have to walk between the car and the door, and it was hot!<\/p>\n

But, this post isn’t about air conditioning or the fact that it is the single most important invention of the 20th century<\/a>. No,\u00a0today my rant wrapped in a compliment is aimed squarely at a placard sitting on my table.<\/p>\n

As you can see from the image above, Starbucks has made a big splash this week announcing it will pay up to a full ride to college for ALL of their employees, including part-time.<\/p>\n

A FULL FRIGGIN\u2019 RIDE TO COLLEGE!<\/p>\n

That is awesome and a huge round of applause goes out to you Howard Schultz and Starbucks. You can read more about it by visiting: starbucks.com\/collegeplan, but here’s where I get pissy.<\/p>\n

1. Again, good job Starbucks for taking the initiative, stepping up to the plate and making a difference. I KNOW other companies will follow suit.<\/p>\n

2. Boo to the U.S. government for not figuring out in 300 years of educating our youth how to send EVERY CHILD IN THE COUNTRY to college if they wanted to, meanwhile we rank in the high thirties in the world today in math and science test scores.<\/p>\n

3. And lastly, Google…how the hell did you get out-flanked by a friggin\u2019 coffee company? You guys chase advanced degree talent all over the world, why not start under your own roof? \u00a0Not ALL of your people are PHD’s and Masters in Engineering candidates. Just how in the hell did Howard Schultz kick your ass on education? Maybe more spent on actual people vs. driverless cars and trying to wipe out an entire trucking industry? But thanks for the free WiFi so you can serve me more ads!<\/p>\n
