This is a guest post by Chris Spoerl, owner of Magic Pool Services in Orlando Florida. DISCLAIMER: As it will become obvious in a paragraph or two, Chris is a client of mine. Why I don’t know, since Chris has some pretty serious marketing chops himself. But none the less, I am happy to say he is a client and now a friend. While I appreciate his comments, I think the takeaway here is that once you actively engage in social media, many doors open that were once closed. Enjoy his post!
My kids ask me all the time what I do for a living. I tell them that I clean pools. This is a very simple answer to a complex question, What I do, is market my business Magic Pool Services so that I can get more jobs, so I can keep growing my business. A lot of small business owners get tied up in “working in their business” as opposed to “working on their business”.
I came across this blog via Twitter about six months ago, and I am a faithful reader. I developed a relationship with Darren Slaughter. He is a down to Earth, no non-sense type of guy, even though he loves the Philadelphia Eagles. This relationship developed later into a business partnership as Darren works with us on marketing ourselves better.
Since we hired Darren, our sales have increased even in a slow season, and his advice is priceless. Most of his tips are simple, easy things small business owners can do to make a difference in our sales. He is not your proto-typical salesperson, as he really wants you to succeed. Plus his consulting fees are reasonable.
My advice to you is to find a way to contact Darren through the several options on this site, and get a free business consultation. You quickly find that Darren is the “Big Daddy “of marketing and will take your business to the next level.
